The New 2027 Competition System
Expanded 17-Week Schedule
Every team plays 14 regular-season games with two byes. Crucially, teams now face their local domestic rivals twice (home and away), building intense regional tension across New Zealand and Australia.
Top-Six Sudden Death Finals
The finals have been trimmed from eight teams to six to ensure only the highest-quality squads compete for the trophy. The top two seeds earn an automatic bye into the semi-finals, while seeds 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5 battle in sudden-death qualifying finals.
